The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Course
Have you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost “treasure”? The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface. Small, large or just awkward, there is a way to bring them up. Find lost items and lift them to the surface. Not only are these skills fun, but very practical and ultimately useful because eventually, you’ll lose something in the water. As a Search and Recovery Diver, you’ll know how to search for and recover it.
ONCE YOU HAVE SIGNED UP FOR CLASS:
- Come into the store to pick up your books.
- Read and complete the ENTIRE book.
- Students must provide ALL of their own SCUBA quality equipment. Including mask, fin, boots, snorkel, BCD, regulator, exposure suit, hood, gloves, tanks, weights, lift bag, line/reel, and dive computer for all sessions of the course.
- Rentals are available, student discount applies towards rental of equipment.

What You Learn
- Search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to deal with potential problems
- How to locate large and small objects using search patterns
- How to use a lift bag and other recovery methods
- Limited visibility search techniques
Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent “OR” PADI Open Water with PADI Navigation Certification. Local diving experience strongly recommended.
Required Book: PADI Search & Recovery Manual $42.90 ($38.61 for our Search & Recovery Students). Includes loan of DVD.
Required Equipment: Exposure protection for diving conditions (wetsuit or drysuit, hood & gloves for local conditions, wetsuit for warm water)BCD, regulator with octopus and gauges, mask, fins, snorkel, tank, weights, compass, lift bag, etc... Rentals available for everything except mask, fins and snorkel & lift bag.
