PADI Wreck Diver
Whether sunk on purpose as an artificial reef or the result of mishap, wrecks open fascinating windows to the past. Most divers find wrecked ships, airplanes and even automobiles nearly irresistible because they’re intriguing to explore, exciting avenues of discovery, and usually teeming with aquatic life. The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches you the ins and outs of rewarding, responsible wreck diving.
Wreck Diver Specialty Class
Sept. 14 & 15, 2024
$475 includes book, 2 dives Haigh Quarry & *2 dives Lake Michigan
*In the unlikely event Lake Michigan dive are cancelled due to weather the final two dives will be at Haigh Quarry
Prerequisites: PADI Adventure Diver or equivalent. Must be 18 years old (15 if taking class with parent or legal guardian). Local dive experience strongly recommended.
*ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE DAN INSURANCE!
ONCE YOU HAVE SIGNED UP FOR CLASS:
- Come into the store to pick up your book.
- Read and complete the ENTIRE book.
- Students must provide ALL of their own SCUBA quality equipment. Including mask, fin, boots, snorkel, BCD, regulator, 7mm exposure suit, hood, gloves, tanks, weights, underwater light, line and reel, and dive computer for all sessions of the course.
- Rentals are available, student discount applies towards rental of equipment.

What You Learn
- Techniques for diving exploring shipwrecks, and how to avoid common hazards
- How to research and learn the background of your favorite wrecks
- Wreck scuba diving equipment considerations
- Considerations and techniques for entering intact wrecks
- Experience in planning, organizing and making at least four wreck dives under the supervision of you PADI Instructor.

Required Book: PADI Wreck Diver Manual. *Recommended reading, PADI Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving.
Required Equipment: Exposure protection for local diving (wetsuit or drysuit), hood, gloves, BCD, regulator with octopus and gauges, mask, fins, snorkel, tank, weights and compass (Rentals available for everything except mask, fins and snorkel). Students must also have a, dive knife capable of cutting line, slate, dive light (highly recommended: two dive lights, one primary and one backup).
Does not include required equipment, transportation to Haigh Quarry, entrance fees, gratuities, misc., etc...
